Qualifying for BADCAT

Why are there qualifiers?

Every entry will be reviewed prior to acceptance to the race.

This is a very long, very difficult undertaking.  If you're going to be out there it's important you understand what you're getting yourself into.  Therefore we've established the following qualifiers to make sure you know what you're doing:

Register

Who needs to qualify?

Everyone.  These qualifiers apply to each solo entry, tandem entry, or relay team member.

You don't need to meet all the qualifers... You just need to meet one of them.

Standards for Long Course Solo

You should have done one of the following since Jan 1 of 2018, in an organized event with published results:

Finished a 100M run in under 30 hours; or

Finished a 200M run within the advertised time limit; or

Finished a 100M mountain bike event in under 15 hours; or

Finished any kayak race longer than 70 miles within the advertised time limit.

Standards for Relay Teams

Each member of your relay team should have done one of the following since Jan 1 of 2018, in an organized event with published results:

Finished a 50k or longer run; or

Finished a half Ironman(tm) or longer; or

Finished a mountain bike race of 40 miles or longer.

Standards for Short Course Solo

Short course qualifiers boil down to this: Can you show you know what you're getting yourself into?  Message us with what you've done - we're reasonable.

Finished a 50 mile run under 13 hours; or

Finished any full Ironman(tm) - bonus points for multiple Ironman(tm) finishes; or

Many other things will be considered.  Email us.

What if you haven't met the Standards?

If you have not met one of the Standards shown above for your race, you can still apply for entry!  Other qualifiers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Email the RD at bmader@runninglane.com to ask about alternate qualifying.
